February was much busier than expected, so I didn’t get nearly as much writing done as I would have liked, only 6000 on BLOOD OF SALT, TEARS OF PEARL. I had wanted to finish the draft by the end of the month, but once again, non-profit event planning (a fundraiser, writing workshop, and book convention) and boring adult commitments (car maintenance, doctor appointments, school things, etc.) took away from my writing time. The good news is that I should be significantly less busy this month, so a lot of my goals for last month should be accomplishable this month. I only managed to work on my novel nine days out of the entire month of February, if you want to know just how little time I actually had to write. The few other days that I did write was for my gaming blog.
Word Counts in January:
Cartridges & Catacombs: 4385
BLOOD OF SALT, TEARS OF PEARL: 6098
Total Words Written in January: 11,448
Total Words Written in 2020: 26,831
Plans for March:
Once again, I announce to the universe that I will definitely for sure finish BLOOD OF SALT, TEARS OF PEARL this month. I’m now at 245,000 words, so roughly 15,000 words to go. I have just over two chapters left to write. I know I can do it. I’ve easily written that much in a single month before. So, barring illness, unexpected life complications, or flaming non-profit disasters, I should be able to make that happen.
I need to get this book finished so that I can turn my focus to other things in April and May, like all those non-profit events I’m planning, while the manuscript sits and ferments. I want to read books again. I only read 11 books in all of last year, and they were almost all audiobooks. I have so many books to read, so many books purchased over the last two years that I haven’t had the time or energy to read at the end of the day.
So my goal is to finish the first draft of this thing by March 20th, which, consequently, is when Animal Crossing: New Horizons releases. So, there’s my incentive, if nothing else.
I only posted a couple of excerpts this month.
Cartridges & Catacombs:
I’ve been keeping to schedule for my gaming blog. Still only posting once a week for now, but I’m enjoying the break from my book each week, and the chance to talk about everything I’m playing!
Games this Month…
