April was a fairly productive month. I managed to write nearly every weekday despite a lotof distractions and made good progress on BLOOD OF SALT, TEARS OF PEARL. I’m a few chapters away from the midpoint now, and I’m getting a little bogged down in the minutiae, but I’m trying to truck on. Again, my nonprofit has been taking up a lot of my time, between planning and meetings and all the other stuff that goes along with that. I didn’t reach my 35,000 word goal (which shouldn’t be much of a surprise), so BLOOD OF SALT, TEARS OF PEARL is still shy of the 120,000 goal I wanted to reach in April. I did get to 110,000 though! So I’m not too far off from my goal.

Plans for May:

I’m being ambitious and aiming for 150,000 words this month. I feel like if I can get to the midpoint this month, my writing speed is going to skyrocket. Right now, I’m in a slower part of the story, trying to build things up for the midpoint forward, and I’m floundering a little bit. But I’m still going, and that’s what is important! I’ll need to write nearly 40,000 words this month on the book in order to get to 150,000, and that may be an insane goal to aim for, but I might be a little insane too.

I do have a writing workshop that I’ll be teaching this month, starting tonight, at the Rogers Public Library. You can find more information about that here!
