BLOOD OF SALT, TEARS OF PEARL
Genre: Gothic Fantasy
Status: Querying
Summary:
Afflicted with a mysterious illness since birth, Kenna has lived her whole life as a mermaid bound to the healing magic of the ocean. Each year on her birthday, she may visit her human father ashore, but on the day he fails to appear, she fears he may be lost on the road home... or worse. Begging the aid of the ocean spirit, Kenna relinquishes her remaining centuries as a mermaid in exchange for human form—and the chance to find him. Her search leads her to a crumbling castle hidden away in the forest, where she finds her father trapped by a 100-year-old curse. If she can break it somehow, perhaps she can still save him.
Lured by moonlit ghosts and wisps of memory, and warned by the castle's beastly master, Kenna investigates the castle's haunted past in hopes of saving her father, and instead discovers an unsettling truth: she did not stumble upon the castle by accident. Nor was her father's disappearance an act of chance. She was brought here, and the one responsible does not intend to let her leave before her purpose is fulfilled. But should she manage to succeed, she may yet earn the human life she always wanted... if she survives it.

TOAD TRIP
Genre: Cozy Fantasy
Status: Second Draft in Progress
Summary:
Work-for-hire mixed-media artist Nancy Harrow is in desperate need of a vacation, but she's too far behind schedule to even think of taking a break. With past-due projects piling up, customers wanting updates, and the charity piece for the town fundraiser due in three days, she really can't afford to dilly-dally. Unfortunately, she's fresh out of ideas. Lacking inspiration, Nancy visits the town flea market, hoping to find something creatively motivating to use in her piece for the art auction, but the only things she brings home with her are a sniffle and a stomach ache. Then she turns into a toad.
With no magic ability herself and unable to afford a wizard to change her back, she goes to the one person who might be able to help: her estranged sister, Sibel, a recently retired spellbreaker. Unfortunately for Nancy, after twenty years apart, Sibel has a bone to pick with her and won't reverse the spell until Nancy makes amends for what happened in the past. Except, Nancy doesn't believe she did anything wrong, blaming their estrangement on Sibel—and their mother. One of them has to accept responsibility first, and it’s not going to be Nancy. But until Sibel admits the truth, she’s stuck here, forced to face the family she tried so hard to forget.
This is so not the vacation she had in mind.
